The Foundation for Economic and Business Development (FEBDEV) has
been providing skills to individuals, companies and educational
institutions for almost twenty years. Our approach to enterprise
development has meant the difference between success and failure
for many entrepreneurs. We will continue with the provision of intervention
programmes that will allow our nation’s people to prosper. The FEBDEV
vision is to develop a spirit of enterprise through the provision
of a wide range of services to individuals, organisations and educational

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS |
 |
|
| |
|
- What
is the essence of Hands-On Enterprise?
Febdev supports institutions in developing structured entrepreneurial
projects for their learners in a fun, interactive way. FEBDEV
offers resources, training and networking opportunities for the
effective implementation of entrepreneurial activities. The registered
institutions also have the option to enter their projects in an
open national competition related to the activities - called Hands-On
Prize.
- How will
Hands-On Enterprise work?
Institutions register by completing the form and paying a commitment
fee, present a short concept plan, implement the enterprise project
at the institution and submit an implementation report. These
reports are then pre-judged for entry into the Showcase (Hands
on Prize Competition). Finalists will be given the opportunity
to make presentations to the judges.
Resources are available at a subsidised cost and registered schools
automatically belong to the Hand-e-Club for interaction with other
schools - online or through workshops.
- What makes
the programme unique?
In short:
Taking hands, Working hands, Applauding Hands

Working Hands:
Hands-On Enterprise is an action-based learning programme. Theory
meets practice through real enterprise events at the institution.
This programme turns those events into structured learner-centered
educational projects by mapping the necessary classroom activities,
developing sufficient aids and providing the resources for learners.
Applauding Hands:
Hands-On Enterprise rewards participants along the way and ultimately
at a ShowCase Gala Event called Hands-On Prize.
- Why should
your institution get involved in Hands-On Enterprise?
FEBDEV believes that once institutions start sharing success stories,
more entrepreneurial opportunities will prevail, others will be
inspired and resources will become available through sponsorships.
The Hands-On Enterprise programme serves as a platform to bring
partners together. Schools with existing projects will benefit
from the networking opportunity with similar institutions and
innovative enterprise education projects will be set in motion
through sponsorship and support.
